Serdar Soyöz successfully completed a Tübitak 1001 Project on fatigue life estimation of wind turbines

Prof Soyoz successfully completed a TÜBİTAK 1001 project (215M805) entitled “Experimental and Analytical Fatigue Life Estimation of Wind Turbines”. Within the project framework, modal properties of the turbine were identified and correlation between environmental and operational effects were obtained based on long-term monitoring results. Finite element model of the turbine was updated using identified modal values. Then, fatigue life estimation of the bolts connecting tower segments was performed both experimentally using dynamic strain gauges embedded within bolts and analytically using detailed finite elements models.
